Sink or Swim


No prejudice Without repentance Unceasing moments, saturating truth Incessantly down it falls in drops and streams Sopping wet, Yet still unyielding Slipping feet feel sore in sodden shoes Each foothold more difficult As the sole burns Sludging on with each step Relentlessly it pours - unable to see Uncertain in direction Disorientation seeps cold Icy trickles unwelcome Unable to peel free As the shirt on your back glues itself to the contours of your body Each movement more savage than the last deep pools mostly filled Tidal highs rise as the Island is surrounded Blind cold and alone Choices seem few Allow the submergence Or remove shoes, dive in
