Sinking Ship
I am going down on this Sinking Ship, caused by evil pirates and dead weight
No, they never respected me, I was never The Captain, just a hapless first mate
I went down with this Sinking Ship, still forever devoted to my Captain
I was hoping to sail away to new and exciting places but now that will never happen
The ship had cracks in it's foundation for years but I always ignored the warning signs
When people would ask me if there was problem with the ship, I had to act like everything was fine
I continued to stay on this Sinking Ship, even though conditions were getting worse and worse
I was the last one to get off this Sinking Ship, when I really should have been the first
So many different elements damaged this once powerful vessel, it was not just one thing
We constantly tried to keep this Sinking Ship afloat but it was obvious it was sinking
As bad as this ship was, we continued to acquire more dead and unnneeded weight
It only continued to do more damage to this Sinking Ship as it started to disintegrate
I was never really happy on this Sinking Ship, being just the hapless first mate
When I agreed to board this doomed Sinking Ship, I already sealed my own fate
I continued to try to tread water as others laughed as I started to drown
There was no sugarcoating it, no matter what I did, this Sinking Ship was going down
Some of the others began escaping this Sinking Ship, in the small boat vessels below
But I stayed on this Sinking Ship with my Captain because a part of me didn't want to go
When it came time for me to escape this Sinking Ship, there just wasn't any small boats left
So I stayed on this Sinking Ship, accepting my doomed fate on the ships deck
The Sinking Ship started to go down fast, sinking deep into the ocean below
God, I couldn't believe how frigid the water really was, it really was so cold
I still wanted to go down on this Sinking Ship with my Captain but in a boat below she too fled
I just stayed on the Sinking Ship as it continued to sink, knowing soon I would be dead

Extended metaphor anchors to personal relationship failure and loyalty.
Repetitive structure with incremental thematic development, moderate density.
Deeply negative: drowning, abandonment, doom, death, cold despair throughout.
Declarative, repetitive pacing; emotional weight without explosive kinetic intensity.
Approximately 40-45 lines; solidly in extended lyric territory.
Central extended metaphor of sinking ship; some personification, mostly declarative delivery.
Pure lyric first-person voice; introspective and confessional, no dramatic distance.
