Sirens New Target

Sirens have moved on from pirates as the centuries passed,

Cruise ships were all the new rage,

Thousands of tourists looking for a getaway from their 9 to 5,

Upper middle class families attempting to bond overseas,

All the while, the sirens were busy,

Warming up for their chorus,

Their sweet symphony interrupting the cheesy family photos,

Enchanting and enthralled,

The families move closer to the edge,

The captain steers the ship to the direction of the melody,

Captivated by the sound,

Waves crash against the ship,

Wind blows through the passengers hair,

And as they follow the sound,

The image of a rocky coast doesn’t register in the captains mind,

Nor in the families on board,

And with the sirens song still ringing in everyone’s ears,

No one notices the crash crashing into the earth.
