Sister

Lately, I don’t hear from you as often as I’m used to.

This life is rough and I hate seeing pictures of your friends smoking, partying and drinking.

I just hope that these aren’t of you, but should it be the case, I hope I am someone you can come to.

I pray for you sister, that God would keep you safe in His arms and protects you.

Can I tell you, that at times my mind is clouded with the lies of this life?

Lies that try to choke me up and try to dim the light inside...

But let me tell you, there is a Hope and it is more than human eyes can see.

There a love waiting, calling to you, “Come to me”.

Where even the lowest of the low and the ashamed become free?

There is a God who loves, gives new life and sets free?

Sister, I know you still have a lot of growing up to do.

I feel like time is just waiting to catch up to you.

When I’m not home, I’m thinking of you…

And this tattoo here on the inside of my arm, is a constant reminder of you.

Six hundred miles may keep us from being together, but I tell you distance could never keep us apart.

There is not a day that goes by, that you’re not in my heart.
