A Sister of Mine, a Gift from God

Having a sister is some would debate

Is sometimes awful but mostly great

We shared a bond that went above and beyond

We shared more than simple DNA

We grew closer day by day

We shared fears and tears, over many years

There were times I’m sure I was a pain

But you would never complain

We had each other time and again

We’ve been happy and sad

Through times good and bad

I could tell things to you that no one else knew

Over the years we were separated by miles and time

But I always had your back and you had mine

The gift God gave me I did not always see

When he set you for me

In our lives people come and go

But you were special this I know

Death may tear us apart

But you will always be in my heart

I will see you in heaven people will say

Until then apart we must say

Until we both sit with God one day…
