Skeleton

My family is a skeleton,

My father is the ribcage,

With the sole task of protecting our heart.

My mother, the skull, guards knowledge and protects our ability to function,

My oldest brother is the vertical column of vertebrae,

The back bone that supports the entire upper body,

The spinal cord that keeps us walking.

My youngest brother is the xiphoid process, the tiniest tip of the sternum,

Directly connected to the ribcage, yet, dangerous to the heart.

I am the long femur,

The strongest willed,

the hardest to break,

I work in harmony with the vertebrae to keep our skeleton moving.

My family is a skeleton,

One that shall never break.
