(S)KIN
#TeamLightSkin. #TeamDarkSkin. #Team Brown Skin
How about #TeamWe'reAllKin?
I don't think you all have noticed but we now have a new form of racism and segregation.
No longer is our KKK, Ku Klux Klan, but actually, Kin Killing Kin.
Whether you all realized or not, we all came from the same people. Whether your ancestors came on boats, stolen from the motherland, our hands and freedom binded together, our names, identity and pride stripped away like those stickers they give away at Krogers.
Or we came on a plane escaping from the abused and damaged motherland, looking for freedom in this so called golden land.
WE are still the same people.
Your skin maybe light and bright but just how #TeamDarkSkin's ancestors had to fight, your ancestors too had to join the fight. How #TeamLightSkin's ancestors were hosed down like dogs, screaming and fighting for their equality, #TeamDarkSkin's ancestors to rioted for their equality.
Instead of picking the differences, pick the similarties.
That girl over there has your eyes. Hey both of y'll have the same sized lips.
Realize and learn that dark skin is your sister and that light skin is your brother. Stop looking at the shade and differentiating but unite.
So #TeamLightSkin. #TeamDarkSkin. #TeamBrownSkin. Be gone!
The switch for #TeamWe'reAllKin has been switched on.
