Skin Deep

You and I can’t see it,

but believe me,

it’s there

lurking.

When you and I grin

know this,

it’s there

sleeping.

But as soon as you leave,

I’m alone,

it’s there

stirring.

As if my skin is coming apart

at the seams,

it’s there

roaring.

Please don’t leave.
