Skin-Tone
My skin tone does not define who I am.
My skin tone does not determine whether I'm more likely to rob a store or become the smartest student in class.
My skin tone does not make me any less of a person.
My skin tone does not express my personality.
You can't look at my skin tone and already figure out that I'm educated, I am a good person, I do have my own voice, and I will shout it!
My skin tone doesn't tell you to treat me good or bad.
My skin tone does not make decisions for me. I make my own decisions, and I make my own future.
My skin tone cannot change, my skin tone will not change.
You can't change my skin tone, but you can change your opinion of me, Maya.
My skin tone is not Maya Parris-Jackson, so stop looking at my skin tone.
