Slacker Mentality

Walk into the classroom, ready to hear the lecture,

Teacher is too absorbed in emails, and goes off on a rant

Tells us that we don't work, have no goals or dreams, all according to her.

We sit and wait, try to make a plan.

Before we know it, an hour wasted.

We try to plan ahead to catch up.

Time's running out, projects are due,

It doesn't help that they're explained at the last minute.

The ones who try and give their all,

are unrecognized, while the slackers get saved day after day.

They can just sit and have their grades handed to them,

because the teacher thinks its okay, "they can always turn it in another day".

But when there's no proof or evidence of work,

who's the fool?

The teacher for trusting teenagers?

Or the ones who worked hard, when they apparently didn't have to?

I'm starting to wonder,

What happened to our mentality and morality?

It seems like school now promotes the "Slacker Mentality".
