<p class="p1"><span class="s1">They never say that senioritis&nbsp;</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Is a realization of&nbsp;</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Red marks slashed with blood&nbsp;</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">In an education system.</span></p><p class="p2">&nbsp;</p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">My essay bleeds fiction&nbsp;</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">As I sketch with broken fists</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">On loose-leaf paper&nbsp;</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">For a book&nbsp;</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">I never read. &nbsp;</span></p><p class="p2">&nbsp;</p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">It&rsquo;s exam after exam&nbsp;</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">And I&rsquo;m reciting Macbeth&nbsp;</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">From the top of my lungs&nbsp;</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">But the tears that fall from my chin</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Tell their own story.&nbsp;</span></p><p class="p2">&nbsp;</p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">I love learning like flowers&nbsp;</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">In a garden,&nbsp;</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Blooming when snow falls,</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Against nature&rsquo;s rule.&nbsp;</span></p><p class="p2">&nbsp;</p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Back to school isn&rsquo;t a flower blooming,&nbsp;</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">But a flower living</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">In the most brutal occupation.&nbsp;</span></p><p class="p2">&nbsp;</p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Back to school is surviving</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">And I&rsquo;m armed with a sword&nbsp;</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">And shield,&nbsp;</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Ready to beat the odds.&nbsp;</span></p>
