Slam Behind the Curtain
"Do you prefer Sam, Sammie, Samantha?"
"I don't care"
"Surely you must prefer something! It's your name! It's who you are".
No. It is not. I am not my name.
Names.
Restricting.
Suffocating.
Pigeonhole.
I am not Sammie, Sam, or Samantha.
I am family.
I am love.
I am the one people talk to when they have had enough.
When they can't take anymore.
I am my mother's stubbornness and my father's compassion.
I am the book worm, the helpless romantic, the believer.
I am me. Not my name. Not anymore.
