Slap in the Face

There has never been

A pain worse than this.

I have never before felt

Like my heart was going to melt.

Never before have I had a burn

That ice couldn’t fix.

There’s never been a slap in the face,

That hurts worse than this.

And it’s all because of you.

My friends tease me when you’re not around,

They claim how cute of a couple we could make.

But, you don’t acknowledge my crush,

You ignore what could be, and for whose sake?!

I’ve liked you ever since we met,

And since then, my crushing has grown quite a bit.

Through all your phone calls just to talk to me,

I think I’ve taught myself to believe

That you really do like me,

That one day we could be

Together, at last, happily.

But… you just fail to see

How much I like you, how much you could like me.

We sometimes act like it already,

So why not give it a shot?

Are you waiting for a certain moment?

Because my heart cannot.

Every night it cries and wallows in fear,

That another will come that you wish instead to hold dear.

What is wrong with me?

Or is it your heart that will not let you see?

How happy together we could be,

If only… you liked me.
