Slaves
They walk around like drones
All the people in the street
With their faces in their phones
How blind to the world they must be
They live so oblivious
Knowing not what anything means
They walk around in ignorance
Straight into the big machine
They are slaves to their master
Cannot think for themselves
The end will come much faster if they cannot protect themselves
Mindless zombies, walking around
Not quite sure what’s up and what’s down
Obeying their masters, herded like sheep
Doing what they’re told until they can sleep
They could break their chains if they tried
from the devices to which they are tied
But like a child towards the sky
They all seem so hypnotized
I once saw a sight that made me white
A faggot being beaten out in public
There were people all around to see
But no one tried to stop it
With their faces to the ground, they tweeted out
“Please, we need to end this shit”
People reacted with shock and terror
But still, no one stopped it
A queer disappeared that day
Without a care or a thought and
People went on with their lives
Just like nothing ever happened
Mindless zombies, walking around
Not quite sure what’s up and what’s down
Obeying their masters, herded like sheep
Doing what they’re told until they can sleep
They could break their chains if they tried
from the devices to which they are tied
But like a child towards the sky
They all seem so hypnotized
Once I knew this special woman
She was a clever girl
I held her to the highest respect
Until I glimpsed her world
Every day she sat and stared
into the glass screen of her cell
Attempts to reach her were pointless
Like she was trapped inside a cell
Once I knew a fellow man
Who felt the same as me
I thought I’d found a free-thinker
But then, clearly, could I see
He was trapped as all the rest
In the false paradise
The dead must be among us
From their graves, they rise
Technology was supposed to help us
But all it does is take our heart
Funny how it was intended to connect us
When all it does is push us apart
Mindless zombies, walking around
Not quite sure what’s up and what’s down
Obeying their masters, herded like sheep
Doing what they’re told until they can sleep
They could break their chains if they tried
from the devices to which they are tied
But like a child towards the sky
They all seem so hypnotized
