Sleeping Beauty

Briar Rose’s alarm rang early that morning

The sun was peeking it’s head over the horizon

But Briar Rose didn’t stir

Instead she hit the snooze button

“Just a few more minutes”

The sun moved lazily across the sky

The villagers went about their day in the kingdom

But Briar Rose turned away from the window

And settled back into the mattress

“Just a few more minutes”

The sun hangs high over the castle

There was much to be done that day

But Briar Rose pulled the covers over her head

The confines of her bed seemed much more appealing

“Just a few more minutes”

Twilight approached as the sun began to set

The last fragments of light trailed closely behind it

But Briar Rose remained in bed

Unmoving as darkness enveloped her

“Just a few more minutes”

The sun had given way to the moon

The kingdom had turned in for the night

But Briar Rose was already in bed

She hasn’t left it in some time

“Just a few more minutes”
