Sleepless Nights

The patronizing clock, It ticks and it tocks. I lay here in a daze, My thoughts go insane. My dreams are standing still, Watching, Waiting, As my sleep runs away. The thoughts running through my mind, Too fast to stop. Like a canary in a cage, I'm trapped in the dark. Wondering what eyes gaze upon me. What horrors may beseech me. What horrible hand may reach out, Cutting my years short with a young and tragic death. There's no difference from my eyes being opened or closed, All the things I do not know. How I wish for the light to come save me
