Sleepless Nights

I lay here in the darkness,

a million thoughts run through my head.

Once again sleep eludes me,

it's nights like this I dread.

I have a pill to help me sleep but,

it leaves me feeling foggy the next day.

Sometimes I wish eternal sleep,

would come and carry me away.

I am  on the verge of madness,

but I keep holding on so tight.

I fear insanity will come to claim me,

on one of these long and

    sleepless nights.
