Slight Chance of Rain Today

Glimmering droplets reflecting the light crash to the ground a thousand times.

Falling with force at the speed of life-too fast for me to keep up with.

I watch the shimmering beads burst like my expectations.

My father's fists like thunder.

The sliver of dreams I held onto like the last morsel of oxygen on earth explodes as it hits the concrete, the harsh reality.

"You'll never make it, you aren't strong enough"

A million more spheres splatter to the ground, penetrating the warm air like daggers.

Even when I see the bayonet coming, I still think I have enough time to dodge it.

Until it wounds me; now my heart pumps blood and hope with a limp.

Now my pupils dialate to see the doubts. My ears became receptive to the discouragment and the laughing and the teasing.

You Can't.

You Can't

You Can't Do It.

The condescending looks of disdain strike me like the lightening flashes fear and doubt deep into my core.

Tears and pain seep from my pores and fall right along with the rain.

At the speed of life they crash into a reality that is out of my control.

At a force that just too fast for me to keep up with.
