Slip

Lying in bed restless. Heart pounding, head

Pulsing, body motionless and breathless.

Passing in and out of consciousness as

time stretches itself beyond memory.

Awake, asleep. Sweating, shivering. The

transitions between each binary is

almost constant. The skin shivers yet

also burns in contact with the bed sheets.

The head-ache encompasses the left and right

sides of the face.  Swelling builds up around

the nose, the throat grows sore and the stomach

nauseous. You slip away.---- slip away. Where?

You slip out of consciousness and are

left somewhere. A dream? Maybe somewhere else?
