Slow Death

Will the thorns never cease to sting? Will the flames never cease to burn? And will my broken heart never learn? Time after time my heart is shattered Yet I always leap joyfully back into the briar, Back into that same unmerciful fire No matter how many times I flee I am drawn back into the beautiful fire Overwhelmed by the irresistible flames of desire The disjointed rhythm of two hearts beating The song I am singing day after day While contentedly drowning In love's deadly flames.
