Slow-down

1 Corinthians 3:18 New English Translation (NET Bible)

18 Guard against self-deception, each of you. If someone among you thinks he is wise in this age,

let him become foolish so that he can become wise.

Slow-down

Don’t get in a hurry the day is barely waking

Already thoughts are roaming outside of set boundaries

Uncontrollable they are grasping reality outpacing

Into directions of lust and greed ignoring fate’s sly pounding

Stretching like blanket, time strokes away from the wrinkles

A place prepared for rest alone for the ones now in trance

Volunteers and the appointed, the smart ones and the simple

Are herded altogether one by one for a fateful silent dance

The rhythm softly pounding to supply a hypnotic dimension

Eyes now simply staring into the nothingness that seems there

Dullness captures the minds in such releasing all the tension

As in a zombie-like estate, they are accepting all that appears fair

Like a bridge spans over the water and a scraper touches the sky

All things now seem possible in this “Confucius” state of dreams

Not thinking too much farther as the world tastes like cream-pie

And most things appear in good taste through about every means

What is really waiting for them when reality comes along?

Will, it hit with a deadly force, or will it slowly just creep in?

What will the effect be when it conquers the outfaced throng?

Will, there be lots of remorse before sullen depression sets in?

Is there a way to hang the one who beguiled me deep within?

Can I kill the bastard that leads me often by the nose?

If I can comprehend it truly or I’ll be just like the kingpin

Before the ball hit me in the gut to strike me in my silly pose
