Slowly Drifting

I am slowly drifting into oblivion

Wondering when my mask will crack

I hear the undertow of waves colliding with jagged rocks

Seeing the caution tape outlining the door, warning me of danger

Forever wanting to get better and be happy

I am slowly drifting into oblivion

I pretend to be okay while hiding within the shadows

Feeling the presence of the voices in my head

I touch the moon with my dreams and what I aspire to be

Always worrying that I will never be accepted

I cry because it's the only thing I'm good at

I am slowly drifting into oblivion

I understand that I don't have forever

Always saying "I'll never make it"

I dream that one day I'll be okay

Trying to love and accept myself

I hope to do everything I'm capable of

I am a Phoenix rising from the ashes of the forgotten,

Refusing to let go and submit to my fears.
