slowly forgetting your face
slowly forgetting your voice.
slowly forgetting the way you softened your voice when you tell me you love me.
slowly forgetting the way your voice sounded like the quiet oceans,
when the waves stopped raging with the wind.
and oh, I wish it were just your voice that was slowly drifting from my memory.
but i can’t bring myself to remember your beautiful brown eyes that looked so
apologetic, so forgiving, and so loved.
the beautiful brown eyes that melted like caramel when you're with me.
it all sounds very ironic, but remembering your face, your hair, your presence around me. It would all make me crumble to pieces.
breaking me apart for believing it could all be the same after all.
