The Small Bird

TO BE HEARD:

The sun is setting on another beautiful, cloudless day in the land where nothing else exists, except for pristine nature. No humans creating noise and pollution, just fresh air and green grasses as far as the eye can see. The large bird has wandered the land the entire day, as he has done for the many that have came before. In his journeys, the large bird has always looked for the next breeze to come. Each day spent in the wilderness makes the large bird crave more land, and more food, and more followers. The large bird thinks of no other, for it is the mightiest in the sky.

The small bird sits, pressing its face between the cold hard bars. There is no escape. The only hope that peeks through the rigid concrete walls is the reddish orange glow from the setting sun. The small bird knows of nothing. His only knowledge of the world has been accumulated from starring endlessly into the small hole that showes a glimpse of a distant hill. He watches the moving grasses, and hopes for the freedom that one-day is destine to come. On that day, each sway of the breeze will be appreciated, every companion will be cherished, and every landscape will be permanently scarred in his memory.
