The Small Changes


From a purple room to a lime green room

From proudly displaying all my stuffed animals on top of my bed,

To hiding them inside of my closest, except for Frosty: my first.

From following around my sisters and their friends to finding ones of my own

I was defining my personality, designing my character, and developing my preferences,

I was growing up

I didn’t know it at the time, being that I was about seven years old,          

And preoccupied with keeping my Nintendo dogs alive and my older sisters annoyed

I now realize, however, that was the start of my becoming
