Small Fish

They strain and stress

Feel the jabbing pain of failure and regret

Or feel the sense of admiration

Who knows?

These are the great ones

The ones that strive to change the world

They want to be that one difference

Oh, how they want this more than anything

It takes over their soul

It is the obsession in their resourceful mind

These are the ones that aim high

But what is the point if they just can't see?

If I could change just one thing, I would simply just change me

I want to be a friend, a sister, a lover, a fighter

Strong, kind, infinite, confident

I don't want to be defined as just one thing

I'm tired of taking people for granted and jumping to conclusions

All the hostility inside me and the pain I feel

I don't want to be contained

I am a small fish in a huge pond

I just want to grow

The world needs so many more things

But I want to be this certain way

All that the huge pond needs

Is a few more small fish who want to grow and change
