Small Hands

Small hands

Delicate, Soft

Told to make a fist

My hand had been used for

Drawing pictures

Holding dolls

Making sandwiches

Folding clothes

Playing on the beach

Writing papers

But never to punch

Five fingers folded in

I strike the target

And the sound of my fist hitting the pad echoed in my ears

I had a list of words to describe myself

Kind

Shy

Funny

Sensitive

Girly

Now I knew I had another one:

Strong
