Small Humans
Why do we grow?
Memories left buried in the sand,
the enchantments of life fade
with the wind,
kisses on cheeks no longer drive
us crazy, grow up to be men
and women,
trying to fight for equality in
this broken society, racisms,
criticisms, and all the prisms
of misconceptions where our
minds forgot our happiness.
We've been struck down,
let us be the small humans once again,
forget the smells of offices or
the fears of death,
forget that we're the drop in
the ocean of the universe,
let those smiles bloom from our cheeks,
bury memories of bloodshed in
the graves of love,
run around with rims of bicycles,
forget that there is another child
more privileged than you,
even though poverty kisses
your lips, learn to kiss her back
with those smiling lips.
Dream of a great world out
there, let us be small humans again,
build sand house as we mould them
around our small feet,
leave our footprints on rocks,
hate education before we know
that we're actually better off without it,
throw stones into the seas,
enchanted by the stories of our elders,
no pregnancies or teenage problems,
little Einsteins chasing the equations
of happiness, chasing the sun,
speaking to their shadows,
eating the mud, one with mother Earth,
death doesn't exist,
we're always protected from the pain.
Small humans,
following the voices in our souls,
those that tell us to smile,
bring joy to a broken brutal world,
scratch your heads when listening
to Poets then laugh at their weird
body expressions, full of life,
full of love.
Believe in something greater
before the world's knowledge
destroys your spiritualities,
not divided or holding grudges,
dancing to the music in your brains,
unreal dreams are perfect,
don't aim for anything real,
be crazily lost in your mind,
dream to be Poet who makes
words build their own stages and
recite themselves within their pages,
dream to be a builder,
dream to be a singer whilst
you carry that spoon in your hand
as you imagine a mic,
dream to be a chef when you
cook in your tins using mud and
leaves,
drive wire cars,
enjoy the dust flooding behind your ears.
Little ears and little feet,
why do adults steal happiness
from us, the little joys,
life changes, trafficked, raped,
left alone as orphans,
left alone in huts, in the dark
corner whilst looking at your
dying mothers, trembling and still
calling out her name,
asking God not to take her away,
drunk fathers knock the meaning
of life into our minds,
schools segregate us,
we walk with torn shoes but we don't
stumble, play soccer before
we're told to chase real dreams,
please don't delete our minds,
our mission is happiness,
your pestilence will never stop us
from smiling,
but soon we shall fade with age,
so we dance in the dust and
try to hide from the future within
the fog of dust,
hide behind couches,
hide in the blankets,
we hide from the future,
hiding from death,
we are small humans,
cherish us before we become horrors
that look like you .
