Small Longings

I think that I should be

In the place between your shoulders,

Where your arms reach farther

And your breath heats like fire.

The slightest bit of shyness

Hinders my intention;

To be a person of interest

That you would find out mysteries

And seek to answer your questions.

I should like to pretend

That you would have me there,

And you'd welcome my touch

And the heart that grows fond.

But I long for nothing in the slightest,

Because you would not dare,

Nor should I compare.

And so I let that fantasy go

Since it was gone anyway.

I'll return to bliss

In my slow ignorance;

Fight something good

So I might enjoy something better.
