"The Smallest Coffins are the Heaviest"

I’m only a kid mommy

I didn't know what would happen if I went outside to play by myself

I just wanted to play with my new red bouncy ball

“Man mommy you should have seen how high it bounced

It seemed to get lost in the sky but it eventually came down”

And rolled out into the street before I could get it

I knew I wasn’t supposed to go in the street

But I didn’t want you it get mad

Because I didn’t ask to play outside

I thought if I got it before you noticed

You wouldn’t be mad

So I ran after it

I’m so sorry mommy

I didn’t get to my red ball before you noticed

I heard you yell at me

I turned to look at you

Although you didn’t look mad

You looked scared mommy

I wanted to ask you why you were scared

But as I opened my mouth

I felt like I was flying

I was scared too mommy

I even screamed

I heard you scream to mommy

I started falling

My whole body hurt

I hit the ground hard

Harder than when I fell off my bike for the first time

I started to cry

Everything started fading away

I felt tired mommy

I saw you crying before I closed my eyes

You never cried

Not unless you were really mad

I’m so sorry mommy

I tried to get my red ball before you noticed

I know you’re mad at me mommy

But where are you?

I’m scared, mommy

I’m all alone...

Mommy?
