A smile

In this world where greed is strong

and people lack the sense of right and wrong.

Where a beggars cries are never heard

and text overcomes the spoken word.

Where all good things come with a price

and a child's hero is all but nice.

A broken generation feels so alone

when they can't find sanctuary in a broken home.

These lost young souls without a voice

who brave their misery without a choice.

Though it could be fixed with an act of kindness

to show them light through sorrow's blindness.

Just one small act to make them smile

and make them happy, if only for a while.

Cheek to cheek a smile will show

From me to them to you, the kindness will grow.

A smile is contagious, it spreads from face to face

and when enough people are smiling...hopefully, we will find our place.

I will change the world and make it much more kind

so a smile on a face will be easy to find.
