smile darling

a bubbling hot mass of melted skin and flesh sits at the foot of my bed

bits of dermis sprinkled on the trunk that holds its mind

its mangled face-

unrecognizable to anyone but me-

almost smiles,

there’s a flash of teeth,

a curl of the lip

a snarl or a smile

really the same thing nowadays

the featureless expanse of skin aptly named face looks at me again

then turns

senses

ah, now i see

not a smile but a glower

chaos has come early this year

and aren’t we happy?

-smile darling
