Smiles

My computer turns on and reminds me of debt.

College comes closer and interest follows after.

Babysitting job doesn't pay regularly.

Mother is tired. Bill notices are scattered everywhere.

Brother is bored. Wants to go back to school.

Summer is almost over. Damn... what have I done?

And yet.....

We still smile.

Our loved ones are here.

Breath still moves in us and fuels our lives.

Another day is another experience.

Another chance to do some right in the world.

Another chance to give a person a compliment.

To love, laugh, cry, shout, and let go.

I wrote this poem based on what I've seen this summer and how it's affected me
