Smiling through Fear

The pain, the fear

The longing goodbye

A scream and wail from the inside

Yet no matter how strong

No matter frightening

I know I am stronger

And faster than lightening.

I know what he did

I will never forget

But I will not let them

Degrade my self-respect.

Sometimes it is hard

I cannot deny

Though I will keep smiling

And never let them see me cry.

Now if you ask me

Why I still try

I will tell you that no fear

will let life pass me by
