Smothering Love
You're killing me I say
Killing me right away
You make me feel nonexistent
With how you bury me.
Smothering.
That's what I say.
Another kiss.
Another lay.
Then again
You love me.
Or so you say.
I want to be alone.
As one.
With the ocean.
The entire earth.
You smother me.
I feel hurt.
Do you want me to stay?
Here with you.
Another day.
Another day.
It's not you.
It really is me.
Smothering.
As you love me.
What do I want?
What do I hear?
I feel like the cake.
Eat away.
I want to leave.
And yet I stay.
The reason being
You love me.
But this can't be it.
The glorified moment.
Of true love.
When you weigh on me
So abundantly.
So I feel weak.
Insecure.
I'm not growing.
Here I lay
Your body next to mine.
But as I look at you
I'm slowly saying goodbye.
This cannot be.
Great memory.
I cannot be.
While you bury me.
This is no lovely life
Of luxury.
You're urging I stay.
While I pay your way.
But won't I stay?
You love me.
As I pray
Rolls around another day.
You bury me.
You love me.
