Snapped

In one year, the average person walks 110,000 miles,

Unaware of where they may be going or how far,

Unrealistic for a day to day basis,

In one year, the average "me" has snapped,

Like a carrot, forced and you can definitely hear it,

I made sure people heard it,

In one year, I caught someone I crossed oceans for,

Sharing the things we had with someone different,

And believing the puddles he barely hopped for me,

Could makeup for his injustice,

In one year, my best friend turned into my lover,

Keeping all the best friend parts,

But adding the warm forehead kisses that make my heart light,

In one year, I lost my best friend,

We wanted the same things and when I got them,

She didn't and instantly made me pay,

In one year, I learned the difference between loved,

And being used by someone,

And I learned to cut them off at the source,

In one year, my childhood friend passed away,

And now her warm and welcoming face,

Will always be seared into my mind cold and empty,

In one year, I learned to let go more,

I learned to say "no" and "leave me alone" more,

I learned the difference between feeling alone and feeling free,

I have walked 110,000 miles of pain,

Heartache, grief, and deception,

But I always thank the Lord for the day I snapped.
