Snapshot

Snapshot I’m on the bus I’m heading home I see the police cars speeding by Snapshot I hear the news I start to cry I can’t believe it Snapshot I’m running now I see my mom I cling to her as if I might fall Snapshot Why are they taking pictures? Is our pain entertaining? I get so angry Snapshot The day before my beautiful house Standing proud against the sky and ocean Nothing can hurt it Nothing can hurt me Snapshot The fires burning Ruining everything Killing the house Destroying us Snapshot A year later We’re doing fine Life goes on But I still feel as if A part of me burned with the house
