snoring

i never thought
i would miss your snoring
it was the worst sound
to drift off to

i would read
and you couldn’t find your
breath
you would gasp
and i would nudge you or
roll you over
we played this dance
night after night

sometimes it wasn’t so bad
it was comical
or even lovable
just like your laugh

and now i sit here writing this
and what i would give
just to lay beside you
and hear
that horrible
that lulling
that beautiful
sound
