Snow

Sleepy eyes struggling to stay awake, gently wander over to the window where dancing snowflakes drift down to the glistening earth, the touch of the crystal blanket welcoming. The eyes, now wide awake, reveal merrily jumping reflections in the serene moment of sparkling specks of cloud dust floating into the crisp winds of winter. A curious nose, sniffing the warm welcoming air follows an invisible hand, coaxing it to come. To the bottom of the staircase and into the kitchen, the hand disappears. The delightful scent leads the nose to a fresh batch of cookies and piping hot cocoa. Taking a tempting taste of a crumbly cookie sensation creates a melt-in-your-mouth contentment. The sweet seduction satisfies a rumbling tummy. Today’s a lazy day, a fun day, a day to relax and enjoy the small things that the season brings. A luring white catches the eyes’ attention. Bundled up like an Inuit in an Arctic blizzard, the body plops into a dune of cold, frosty velveteen and lays down to watch the big pillow fight in the sky. Chilled gales break them open to expose fluffy feathers floating freely in the openness above. A day of playing in the snow brings the body inside to a fervent fireplace and roasting marshmallows. Hours of long lasting frivolity in the building mounds of snow provides a simple pleasure for an anxious kid to seek.
