Snow
The snow is an anachronism today
But it is pretty
People reject it for they are feverish
But they do not acknowledge it for it’s beauty
It may be a step back, but it brings us to a pretty place
My eyes are open- My eyes are open
I dream back of history and war
This shall not last forever
It’s as ephemeral as life and peace
I am here in safety while others rot
And yet I, as others, have the audacity to complain
This shan’t last forever
I am that knowing, at the least
I’m frequently forgetting my dreams
I could easily blame that on insomnia
But the harsh truth of that and life is that I am growing up
People die everyday
People say we cannot take much more
But we leave behind such beauty that our death is just stepping away
We let others enjoy or despise the legacy we leave
I’ll be gone sooner than I would hope
And I must get working to leave behind something for others to indulge in
The snow won’t last forever, but when it leaves it waters the flowers that humans enjoy
Art and beauty are prevailing ghosts
I like the snow
I wish people would stop complaining
