Snow
She was purer than snow, the way she moved
She always let the wind take her dark hair with it, never denying it of this power
She walked with leisure, allowing whoever to pass her by
She smiled at everyone, no matter if they were a stranger or foe
But she wasn’t trying to grin; the corners of her lips had a mind of their own
I hated the snow
It made me sick and uncomfortable
Nothing can be that beautiful, that perfect
So I hated her
She made me nauseous and agitated
No one can be that flawless, that pure
I hated the way she whispered to her friends and how they giggled in reply
It didn’t matter if it was funny or not, they worshipped her in every form
I hated how she pushed her hair behind her slim shoulder as she took a test
She couldn’t concentrate with something so full and beautiful in her way
I hated when the boys stopped to stare, no matter what they were doing, no matter what she was doing
She always had eyes on her, the moment she arrived to the moment she left
I hated the way she drove home from school, singing that stupid song on repeat
Her voice was of an angel, but she always denied it
I hated the way she woke up in the morning, her hair still in a bun on her perfectly sculpted head
She flung it up in less than a minute, without looking in a mirror
I hated the way she checked her phone as if it were the morning paper
The screen was always full of messages from friends and admirers
I hated the way she danced around her room, holding an imaginary man’s hand
It didn’t matter if there ever would be a man’s hand to hold
She was confident on her own
I hated the way she looked at him, as if he were the only human on earth
He gave her his every breath and she gave him his
I hated the way she saw her reflection and how her reflection was me
I hated the snow
For the snow was me
