The Snow Queen

The night is cold and the wind is fierce But she doesn't care Adorned by a velvet dress and bare feet She twirls through the snow, Each step a flurry of ice and laughter That lasts for eternity in every moment. Clumsy leaps and graceful falls Her ballet is not finished When at last the snow queen rests Collapsed there with her breath, The silver spokes of memory Needle through her hair. A single tear breaks her composure A single snowflake drops When it floats to the ground beneath It blinks and then dissolves. With that the queen arises, Adjusts her cold white crown, And flashes one small smile Of glistening winter ice.
