Snow Storm
It’s dark
The dark that usually comes before a morning snow
The white powder that lights things up
And yet darkened them at the same time
So majestic, so cold
Its beauty invites you out
But out there
It’s icy and harsh
If you’re not prepared
You won’t make it very long
I can’t feel the cold
Not anymore
I use to shiver
And you would keep me warm
When I would shiver you keep me safe
When you walked away you took your heat
I felt so cold, and numb, and alone
As snowflakes fall
It hypnotize the world
We all stop to watch
Watch them fall
Sometimes slow, sometimes fast
But we all know their destination
Down on the ground
We may move them; try to pick them up again
But they will keep falling
And eventually fade away
I am fading
Soon I won’t be here
What will I have to show for it?
Only the cold people I left behind
For those who were smart enough to get away
They did not get cold; they did not watch me fall
They walked away when the sky got dark
They knew what was coming
The storm
The swirly, windy, blast of bitter air
Blowing up in a frenzy
Each flake cuts a path
But each path is random
The damage left behind is permanent
It can’t be fixed
It can’t be healed
