So Good

Dear Life,

Why do you have to be so...good?

Why do you let me have everything?

Sure obstacles have come...

like my broken foot,

slip in school only for a moment,

brother's cancer that shouldn't have affected me so lightly,

dad's bad heart,

But they went.

Quick.

All is good now.

Am I just good at dealing with things?

Or have I not actually made it out to the real world yet?

Have I seen you yet?

Touched you?

Tasted your sweet goodness?

Or am I in your grasp waiting to burn my tongue on your scalding cup of tea?

Do other people have it easy like me?

Do other people wander through life, coasting,

floating on the water's surface rather than riding the waves?

What did I do to deserve the bright sunlight rather than the darkness of night?

Never had a broken heart,

or a suicidal thought.

Never had the clothes snatched from my back,

or food not on the table.

I should be grateful,

but am I truly?

You've left me scared,

Not of the bad,

But lack of good.

When will it all go away?

Will I be okay?

I don't want to crash and burn,

into a spiraling blackhole with no escape.

Help me appeciate your fullness and generosity.

Sincerelly,

Polly
