So It Slips

Each face bears a story And each story a multitude more Intertwined through luck and fate Intertwined through space and time Written from chaos into blood Into today Into this Monday Into this moment, into this very second Faces, time, stories converge Every passion exhausted Every dream achieved Every opportunity lost Every stone unturned Their confluence builds the world of today And yet we squander it to lust, to ignorance, to stupidity to apathy, to gluttony, to indulgence And so we let it slip The moment of today that has been built from the lives, souls, and endeavors of those who have walked this earth before us And yet we continue to march through these muddy stagnant waters Proud of our lust, greed, inanition... So it slips Every story Every face Every penultimate moment
