So is Life

Location

The alarm goes off and I can't get out of bed

My muscles are still sore and my body longs for sleep

It is a new day and I can’t be late so I rush out the door forgetting my lunch or to brush my teeth or to put on deodorant

Cars groan and yell surrounding for the following hour or so

I finally leave my exhausted little car and head into work or school; I guess it depends on the day

I walk what seems an eternity from the parking lot to my class only to sit in there fighting this strong figure that surrounds me

I push and push but I sink into darkness only to be brought back by the sounds of everyone shuffling as they put their things up to head to their next class

Maybe today I am at work and I check emails and write notes and answer calls like any other person consumed by this disease that turns you into a zombie so slowly you can’t notice

A monster must have slipped in while I slept because my insides begin to wage war

I feel sick but I know I am fine

After a long grueling day of work or maybe class I get a break and finally head on to the road to follow the herd of vehicles and try to not hurt any of them

I get home and I kill the beast inside of me by consuming enough to suffocate it

The shadowy figure comes back and wants to take me in but I resist

I resist because I have to the day isn’t over

I change and once again head into the wave of rubber on road

Only to reach another job where my body is physically demanded upon

The time flies by but the exhaustion is real

I finally get back home after a long day and I remember I still have homework to do

I discern today is Wednesday and my homework is due tomorrow so I have no other choice

The shadowy figure creeps back up on me and I finally lie down and let it take over

I wake up the next day only to realize I have not fought it off in completion and it is a new day

And so is life
