For So Long
The clouds lie heavy, threatening a storm;
The air is electric, waiting, warm.
The weathermen promise a shower but strong,
But it’s been almost for so long.
I feel a near shift inside myself;
A mental change or decaying health?
I should worry it’s something too bad or too strong,
But it’s been almost for so long.
You look at me and breathe a sigh;
You don’t react when I flutter my eyes.
There’s something between us that doesn’t belong,
And it’s been almost for so long.
