So This is Love?
So this is love, or so they say.
I can never tell the truest kiss
from what a liar gives me yet
I bask within romantic bliss.
A trembled soul, and bleeding heart
I’ve not a dime to give away
but sell my life and bind it to
another and there my love shall stay.
Relationships, so far so few,
and yet with care I’ve not been graced
for love that most sing songs for
has never in my reach been placed.
Still I can dream and perhaps look for
the love of simple words
In friends, family, and the significant
But not in acts with bees and birds.
What would love be if not for tinder?
Without benefits what makes a friend?
Can family care as tensions rise?
Why has good started to descend?
I’d like to hope that others feel,
and perhaps someone will feel the same
so rather than use and mock me
they’d open up without the shame.
The world has cast out kindness
and with that, the kinder ones
that make mothers proud of daughters
and fathers proud of sons.
Should not we all be kind and care,
and even those that we despise
be treated with respect and affection
or must it all be vulgar lies?
I think that love is out there
and that selfishness, this wicked phase,
is nothing more than a road block
keeping my story from turning the page.
To be genuine and truthful,
to be righteous, sweet, and kind,
to not give in, or barter,
but to have pure things on your mind.
To be simple, caring, and noble,
and to remove the sickened ways
and pave a less blocked path
to find others who guard their gaze.
Perhaps I'll be so lucky,
though not beginner's luck as before,
to find a relationship worth having,
to find someone else looking for more.
When asked why they care so much,
no motives will hide their pride.
And when I ask what keeps them near
there’ll be nothing they need to hide.
When I ask them why they help me,
when I ask about all they do
their answer will be so perfect,
“It’s all because I love you.”
