"So Much"

So much for “I don’t need drugs, cause you’re my high” We’re constantly in rehab because of the lies, So much for “best friends”, For all those sugarcoated lies, Thanks for the false promises and hopes, For the times you said “I love you” when you don’t, Thanks for all the worthless days you've given me This is all for those suspended moments in time Everything I've mentioned, it slipped your mind, While I poured it out, I gave it my all, You just stood there, ignoring my call, Remember those times where we’d be on IM, Rambling on about nothing until 2am? Do you remember how we’d constantly fight? How the day after, we’d run towards each other, With open arms, hearts, embraces… Like “that never happened” expressed on our faces, We weren't mad for long, “forgive and forget”, Always with these problems, yet we’d never stay upset, So much for when you told me you “couldn't” Honey, that was bullshit for “I wouldn't”. So much for “I hate you” and “good-byes” We’d always come back without compromise, So much for everything you ever wanted to do, Just didn't take the risk, because it wasn't “you”, Sometimes, do you ever wonder “what if”? If we hadn't been like this, if things weren't the same If we weren't running around in stupid circles, If we weren't playing this repetitive game? Truth be told, this is what we’re based upon, This game of reoccurring heartbreak and oblivion, Cause here we are, half the time saying “I do” And the other half, telling each other “It’s not me, it’s you” Risks and regrets, do we wanna live like this? Constantly forgiving, whatever you or I would amiss. So, so much for “I hate you and “goodbye” And, so much for “I don’t need drugs, you’re my high” Cause we both know that I’ll stand by your place, From the start of your battles, to the fall from your grace. And this is that part of me that also told you “I do”, Cause the other part keeps screaming “We‘re through”.
