So Much for Listening
You criticized me for not writing down my schedule on Google
So I did, minute-by-minute, showing you where I would be and who I'd be with
Then you made fun of me for being too detailed
You said you didn't need to know everything
Well, which one is it?
You yelled at me for not texting in our chat
my whereabouts
but it was all on the calendar
and I didn't want to be rude by using my phone around him
You thought I didn't text because I was out with a boy
How many times do I have to tell you he and I talked about just being friends?
And now I'm not even talking to him
You made me cry when he drove me home
and things went downhill from there
I told you about tonight's dinner six days ago
But when I brought it up again yesterday,
you were surprised
and said nobody was listening earlier
Gee
Thanks
You know that really makes me feel loved
I relish in the fact that I'm making an effort to communicate
but you don't care
That really hits me in a sweet spot
And you wonder why I tell my friends more stuff than I tell you
They listen to me
Make eye contact
Hold my hand
Hug me
Tell me they love me
Let me lean my head on their shoulders and vice versa
They don't judge me
They sympathize
and empathize
They let me cry when I'm hurt
They accept
me for me
with my beauty and flaws all in one package
Why can't you be more like them?
